WinterStone Majors Series Tournaments are a hit… and continue with the U.S. Open in June

WinterStone Golf Course

The next time you find yourself forming a team for a scramble golf tournament, take a hint from Kane Chapman, head golf professional at WinterStone Golf Course. It’s a tip that applies well in life…Find yourself a good woman.

“Anyone who can hit from the forward tees and hit the ball a long way will be a big asset,” Chapman said. “The difference between the red tees, where most of our players will tee off, and the blue tees, where the ladies and seniors tee off, is more than 1,200 yards

Will May be better for the Kansas City Royals? They’re glad to be past April

Royals in May

Will May be better? It can’t be much worse than April was for the Royals.

When the Kansas City Royals hit a major league-worst .210 in April, you can expect a bad month. When you add to that a .270 on-base percentage and a .336 slugging percentage, also, all worst in the bigs, you know that is going to add up to a lot of losses.

When you score a big league-worst 63 runs, 24 fewer than the next club, it is going to be a long, long, month.

When your bullpen, once a strength, is 2-7 with a 5.67 ERA and with more blown saves, four, than saves, three, and you know it must be horrible month.

It was. Ending with a nine-game losing streak and the American League Central caboose.

Will Chiefs selection of Patrick Mahomes and other bold draft moves lead to big dividends in the future?

Patrick Mahomes draft pick

They finally did it! The Kansas City Chiefs traded up in the first round of the NFL Draft, which had Chiefs Kingdom all abuzz. Then, they took quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the first round. The trade was the first of four the Chiefs made to improve selections in the draft. The world as we know it changed.

Royals’ DH Brandon Moss says it’ll take time, but the team just has to “play good baseball” to overcome bad start

Brandon Moss

Brandon Moss knows the hole the Kansas City Royals dug early in the season.

While it is not the depth of Grand Canyon and can be climbed out of, it will be a mule-pack progress. It won’t be a quarter-horse sprinting at Ruidoso Downs Race Track.

Moss is hitting .159 with four home runs, three of them solos, and 24 strikeouts in early May.  The Royals are in last place in the American League Central thanks to a nine-game losing streak to end April.

Why Mike Moustakas must be re-signed by the KC Royals

Mike Moustakas

Royals fans know one of the looming questions surrounding this season is which of four top players in the last year of the contract will stay in Kansas City. Based on the Royals cap space and the money they can offer, it’s most likely they can only keep one of the four. Out of the four of them, however, the Royals need to get Mike Moustakas a new contract above Eric Hosmer, Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar.

KC Royals get a poor grade for their play in the month of April

Royals poor grade

You can’t put too much in giving a grade for the first month of the Royals’ season but when we look at the predictions versus the predicament of the 2017 Kansas City Royals: most of us could only do if-then statements.

If we are winning, we are all in. If we are losing, goodbye to Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, Jason Vargas and/or Alcides Escobar.

We also looked at the off-season moves with wonder as general manager Dayton Moore traded away Wade Davis, one of the game’s best closers, and Jarrod Dyson, who has game-changing speed.

Sure it is early and too often the struggles out of the gate tend to be weighed more heavily versus mid-season bumps and slumps. I do know this; we have no idea what the roster will look like come August and September. Mark down the July 31st trade deadline on your calendars and be prepared for a bumpy ride.

Biggest 1st round draft busts of the Kansas City Chiefs

Chiefs Draft Busts

When it comes to the NFL Draft, there’s always possibility that not every pick made will actually pan out. For every Peyton Manning taken in the first round, there’s almost always a Jamarcus Russell taken as one of the top picks. The Chiefs are no exception. Recently, their first-round picks have been homeruns, picking up Pro Bowl-caliber players, such as Marcus Peters, Dontari Poe and Eric Berry. On the flip side, they have made some major blunders in the first round. After taking a look at the best Chiefs draft picks, now we take a look at the five biggest first-round draft busts by Kansas City.
