One of the most important elements in the enjoyment of a round of golf is also one of the least predictable. While most golf hospitality workers – marshals, rangers, starters, etc. – do a good job of providing a quality experience for patrons, the manner in which they perform their tasks can be quite different from one course to another. Mike Abell of the Kansas City-based Golf Hospitality Association hopes his organization can bring some consistency.

Football season is upon us once again. Whether you’re one of those who are casual sports fans or a true fanatic, cheering for your team can bring highs and lows. But did you know that it can also encourage good health?

That’s not just some lip service from ESPN or Fox Sports. Research shows sports fans are active, engaged and in better health, thanks to their allegiance with a favorite team.

Neck injury: When sports become a pain in the neck

When any neck injury is suspected a person should not be moved without a medical professional present due to the risk of spinal cord injury.

The neck, also called the cervical spine, is comprised of seven vertebrae stacked on top of each other and separated by discs that act as cushions to absorb shock and provide stability.

In the space between the vertebrae, nerves that supply the arm exit the neck. The spinal cord which supplies sensory and motor function to the arms and legs is protected by the vertebrae (bones), ligaments, discs and muscles around the neck.
