Mizzou’s Logan Cheadle grinding through team’s defensive struggles

Missouri ended September with a 51-14 loss to ranked Auburn, who took advantage of the Tigers’ defensive shortcomings. Senior Logan Cheadle, the emerging leader of the cornerback unit, misread two passes that factored into Auburn’s 482-yard night. The cornerbacks finished with a season-low seven tackles.

Mizzou surrendered four touchdowns on Auburn’s first five offensive drives in an effort where Mizzou finished without a defended pass, forced fumble or an interception for the first time this season.

“We game-planned them hard,” Cheadle said. “We saw a lot of things we were expecting, but guys just didn’t make plays, me especially.”

Peyton Bender – shows skill and poise…moves forward as Jayhawks QB

The Peyton Bender era officially began for Kansas football Sept. 2 at Memorial Stadium in the season opener against Southeast Missouri State in front of 32,134 fans with mostly sunny skies and 83-degree weather.

On KU’s first play from scrimmage, Bender caught the snap in shotgun from center Mesa Ribordy and threw a four-yard pass to wide receiver Jeremiah Booker.

Daniel Sorensen soars for Chiefs defense. Safety finds success from raw talent and hard work.

When a recent photo of Kansas City Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen going airborne over a blocker to harass Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz went viral, the only thing missing was Sorensen’s Superman cape.

“I love it,” Chiefs All-Pro linebacker Justin Houston said.  “(He’s) putting it out there. That’s something that we ask of each other, everything that’s in your heart, we hope that you put it out there on the line every game, every snap, every play.
