Fall golf offers many advantages-and great views-to area golfers

The weather may be cooling down and the daylight getting shorter, but the fall season could be one of the best golfing times. At the end of the summer, most put their clubs away until the spring. However, there are advantages playing fall golf compared to the other seasons of the year.

Even though the weather is getting cooler as the season changes, it actually makes for better days to play a round of golf compared to the summer.

Chiefs lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif will have a second career as a medical doctor

How many NFL teams can boast they have a 6-5, 322-pound offensive lineman who is about to pass his medical exams and get his full M.D.? The Chiefs do…and his name is Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.

Duvernay-Tardif was drafted by the Chiefs in the sixth round in 2014 out of McGill College in Montreal. Most Chiefs fans had not heard of McGill College, much less Duvernay-Tardif. He was a conversation-starter at best.

Diego Rubio “fills big shoes” and rises to Sporting KC challenge

When Sporting KC made the shocking trade of striker Dom Dwyer, all eyes focused upon the next guy on coach Peter Vermes multi-tiered depth chart. The spotlight didn’t faze Diego Rubio, though.  He is used to trying to fill the shoes of players who have come before him, beginning with his father, Hugo, who played nearly two decades at the Chile senior level, including nine years on the National Team.

Hugo was a big influence on Diego and his older brothers, Eduardo and Matias, who are also professional soccer players.

The Chiefs are very good…these 5 things will make them great

For the past few years, NFL teams that start 3-0 typically have a 75 percent chance to make it to the playoffs. Teams that start 4-0 usually are above 80 percent and 5-0 gets you in the 90 percent chance range of extending your season. The Chiefs have odds in their favor.

Making it to the post-season isn’t an easy feat and coach Andy Reid has gotten us there three out of the last four years. As we stroll down the old road to the Super Bowl, let’s look at what we have seen so far.  The Chiefs have had to overcome some hurdles and a few speed bumps along the way.  To be a playoff team, you need the following:

One, win the games you are supposed to win.
