A Review of the Chiefs last 5 Playoff Appearances

Playoff History Chiefs

Before the start of the 2016-17 postseason, let’s take a look back at the Chiefs’ 5 playoff appearances since 2000.

The Chiefs are just 1-5 in the 21st Century. That’s a .167 win percentage.

Best Sports Moments: Kansas City Sports’ Top 5 of 2016

JANUARY 2017 – With another year in the books, we wanted to take a look back at the best sports moments of 2016… and see what made last year so great. Some of our teams didn’t quite live up to expectations or make the postseason run we wanted, but they filled the past year with some great moments. As we start into the new year, let’s take a look back at the 5 best of 2016.

‘Bust’ or a Canton ‘Bust’ for Dee Ford?

Dee Ford

DECEMBER 2016 – Dee Ford has turned things around.

The term “bust” has a wide range of meanings and implications in the National Football League. How wide? Oh, from “worst ever” to “best ever.”

When an NFL Draft pick—especially a first-round pick—doesn’t live up to expectations, he is called a “bust.” But when he far exceeds expectations, the talk leans toward whether he will have a “bust” in Canton, Ohio, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Dee Ford was definitely in the former category heading into the 2016 season

Happy Festivus KC – Our Top Grievances for Sports in 2016

DECEMBER 2016Happy Festivus KC! Among all the celebrations each holiday season, this might be one of my favorites to recognize and celebrate. For those of you who don’t know what Festivus is, I’ve included a link here from the episode of “Seinfeld” that created this holiday.

One of this holiday’s traditions is the airing of grievances, in which you tell people all the ways they have disappointed you this year. While this year has had some great moments for Kansas City teams, there have been some disappointments.

To honor this tradition, here are the top five grievances about our local sports teams and players I would like to air on this day of Festivus (Just a note, I have nothing against these players/teams, they have just been disappointing this year). In the words of Frank Costanza, “I’ve got a lot of problems with you people! Now you’re going to hear about it!”

Super Bowl appearance? – Chiefs are long overdue

NOVEMBER 2016 – It is past time for the Chiefs to be in a Super Bowl game.

The World Series has ended and we are right smack dab in the middle of the NFL campaign. As many of us are still discouraged at the Royals’ .500 record and failure to make the postseason, but it really begins to shed light on how long it has been for the Kansas City Chiefs to appear in the Super Bowl.

Daniel Sorensen makes impact with Chiefs

NOVEMBER 2016 – Daniel Sorensen at 6-2, 208 is wispy thin for an NFL linebacker.

Sorensen is really not fast enough to play safety in the NFL either. His 4.67 40-yard dash time prior to the 2014 draft was below average.

Chiefs Tyreek Hill Climbing with Lightning Speed

NOVEMBER 2016 – Tyreek Hill does just about everything fast.

He was the first to score a touchdown for the Kansas City Chiefs this year, helping them overcome the largest deficit in franchise history in the season-opening, overtime triumph over San Diego.

He is fast becoming a playmaking star.

“It’s just a playmaker play,” Hill said of the nine-yard TD reception,

Chiefs have solid draft after trading down

the chiefs draft

MAY 2016 – Never has there been so much excitement over nothing, especially in the midst of the biggest non-event in all of sports. The Chiefs traded out of the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, dropping nine spots to add two extra picks. The excitement of the first round, complete with a draft party at the Chiefs practice facility, was all about nothing happening. The Chiefs did not select a pick until the second round on the second night, the 37th overall selection.

And the crowds went crazy!

Breaking the KC Chiefs “secret code”

Chiefs Secrets

APRIL 2016 – Believe it or not, strategy at 1 Arrowhead Drive is not a matter of national security, contrary to the way and speed in which information is leaked by the Kansas City Chiefs. The team hides behind the veil of not wanting to give away the recipe to the “secret sauce” to the opposition.

Sometimes you have to think they just like keeping secrets.

What the Chiefs need to do this offseason

Chiefs offseason

MARCH 2016 – As we prepare ourselves for the upcoming baseball season and wondering if the Kansas City Royals can defend their World Series championship, the Kansas City Chiefs are actively planning for the upcoming NFL draft at the end of April.

Clark Hunt and John Dorsey look to have their hands full as several key Chiefs are free agents.

It was a great ride in 2015 as the Chiefs finally got a playoff win, only to watch division rival Peyton Manning and the Broncos go all the way to the Super Bowl and bring Denver home the Lombardi Trophy.
