Fantasy football and the Chiefs; which players should you draft?

Not only are we coming up on the start of the NFL regular season, but many of us are approaching our fantasy football drafts. We all want to draft the top team in our league, but you can’t help the desire to pick some of your hometown players. Well we are here break down some players’ fantasy value and when to draft them so you can have a great fantasy football team lead by some of your favorite Chiefs. Note: This will be based on a normal, 10-12 team league fantasy football draft.

Here’s a scary thought, especially for Kansas City Chiefs opposing quarterbacks in 2017: Justin Houston thinks he’ll be better this season than he was in 2014.

How good is that? Let’s refresh your memory. Houston finished the 2014 season with 22 sacks, one-half sack off the NFL record set by Michael Strahan of the New York Giants in2001.

Chiefs Kingdom is big reason team training camp should stay in St. Joseph

Training Camp

Since 2010, the Chiefs have hosted their training camp on the Missouri Western State University campus. At the end of this training camp though, the contract the team and the school have will be up and the Chiefs could look for a new camp destination.

The team does have optional extensions the next two years to stay in St. Joseph, but will they choose to stay there? According to team president Mark Donovan, you can expect to see the Chiefs back at Missouri Western for future training camps.

Kansas City Sports & Fitness Magazine caught up with the KC Chiefs Andy Reid, Dee Ford and Spencer Ware and discussed a variety of off-season topics including the QB position plus recent draft and contract decisions that could affect the 2017 season.

ANDY REID

Q: How important is it to establish that this is Alex Smith’s team coming into camp?
REID: “I think a given is that Alex [Smith] has been here, he’s done well and all the guys understand that. There’s more than just stepping back and throwing the football. That position has grown into a tough thing to pick up right away. That young kid [Patrick Mahomes] is going to learn. That’s what he’s going to do. He’s got a great room there to learn in between the players and the coaches in there. Then I expect Alex [Smith] to go in and win. That’s what he’s going to do. He doesn’t think any different than that. He’s not looking back, he’s moving forward and that’s an important thing. He’s been around it a little bit.”
