Royals looking to get back to postseason before core players exit via free agency

Royals free agents

APRIL 2017 – Things were spinning so fast, even Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost had some fleeting doubts.

There was the death of Yordano “Ace” Ventura in late January just before the team reported to spring training. And the off-season forced trades of closer Wade Davis and speedster outfielder Jarrod Dyson, who are both eligible for free agency after this season, for property the Royals can control for a longer period.

“With everything we’ve had go on, losing Ventura, having to trade Wade, having to trade Dyson, I think there were some questions in my mind how good we were going to be,” Yost said.

Could Hosmer’s All Star Heroics Jinx the Cubs in the World Series?

Is the jinx on for the Cubs?

Before Game One-October 2016: Eric Hosmer’s stellar All Star Game performance helped guarantee that the American League would have home field advantage in the 2016 World Series.

Could home field advantage jinx the Cubs…or play into whether the Cubs win the series?

According to baseballreference.com, Cleveland and the Cubs are .500 in games they’ve played against each other since 1997, and in these stats, home field doesn’t seem to be much of a factor in wins or losses. BUT THIS IS THE WORLD SERIES!

It’s clear Hosmer’s MVP play in the All Star Game gives the Indians an advantage. For Cubs fans, we hate to see a proud moment for Hosmer and Royals fans dash the hopes for Cubs fans…or do we?
