The Chiefs future looks fantastic with Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes Chiefs

I have seen the future of the Kansas City Chiefs and it looks great. I’m not referring to the future in the Chiefs’ postseason this January, but for the 2018 season and 2019 and 2020 and beyond. I’m not ready to put Patrick Mahomes II in Canton, Ohio – but I would not rule it out – after one start and one game-winning drive to end the game with a field goal to beat the Denver Broncos 27-24.

But I do believe the Chiefs have a quarterback that will lead them to numerous victories and postseason play, maybe even the Super Bowl, for the next decade if he can remain healthy.

Kareem Hunt has great rookie season and captures the NFL Rushing crown

First impressions often tell a lot. Judging by the first impression Kareem Hunt made on the Kansas City Chiefs, he should not now be in a tight race for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Kareem Hunt fumbled on his very first NFL carry. It was an inauspicious beginning for the third-round pick with the low-profile background from Toledo.

But Hunt didn’t let it bother him and rebounded for three touchdowns as the Chiefs stunned the defending champion Patriots 42-27 in the season opener. Hunt’s 246 total yards set an NFL record for the most yards from scrimmage for a first career game.

Can the Kansas City Chiefs go far in the playoffs in 2018?

Every year we wish for the Kansas City Chiefs to make it to the postseason. Once again the Chiefs not only accomplished that feat, but won the AFC West division two years in a row for the first time in franchise history.

Although it might be Alex Smith‘s last year with the Chiefs, he displayed a little more emphasis on the deep pass, plus his traditional exceptional short game, to have his best season ever.

The Chiefs are very good…these 5 things will make them great

For the past few years, NFL teams that start 3-0 typically have a 75 percent chance to make it to the playoffs. Teams that start 4-0 usually are above 80 percent and 5-0 gets you in the 90 percent chance range of extending your season. The Chiefs have odds in their favor.

Making it to the post-season isn’t an easy feat and coach Andy Reid has gotten us there three out of the last four years. As we stroll down the old road to the Super Bowl, let’s look at what we have seen so far.  The Chiefs have had to overcome some hurdles and a few speed bumps along the way.  To be a playoff team, you need the following:

One, win the games you are supposed to win.

Rookie running back Kareem Hunt is ready to step into key role for Chiefs

Kareem Hunt is in the perfect place as a Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back. Not only does he share a last name with the owner of the team, his skill set fits exactly what the Chiefs need.

He’s a versatile, pass-catching running back with the ability to run through or around defenders. And with all-time leading rusher Jamaal Charles gone to the rival Denver Broncos, Hunt is ready to step right in and contribute right away.

“He is a smart kid,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.

Johnson, Hunt, Hill and Jones are key Chiefs players to watch during the preseason

Some Chiefs players to watch during training camp that could make or break the 2017 campaign include Derrick Johnson, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill and Chris Jones.

While there have been a lot of changes in the Kansas City Chiefs organization and front office this offseason, but the majority of the roster has stayed the same.

Apart from the draft and free agency moves, the core of the team has stayed together.

Certain players will have key parts in whether the Chiefs will return to the playoffs and make a Super Bowl run again, but there’s also some questions, like any year.

Here’s what to watch for with these key players:
