It’s no secret, the Kansas Jayhawks have one of the best basketball programs in the history of college basketball. They have the second-most wins and the most first-team All-American selections in Division I history. Plus KU basketball has five national championships. In fact, many of the All-Americans and other players that lead the program to such success have continued to succeed in the NBA. Some of the best players in the history of the NBA started in Lawrence, Kansas. Here’s our look at the best Jayhawks to be drafted into the NBA.

As we continue looking at some of the best NBA players to come from our local schools, we now look at the best to come from the Little Apple. While Kansas State hasn’t had a continuously consistent basketball program, they still have found success, making 29 NCAA Tournaments, 4 Final Fours, and have been named 44th on the Associated Press’s All-Time Poll. Through the years the Wildcats have had some talented players that had great NBA careers, including a hall-of-famer. And as we get closer to the NBA Draft, we look at the best NBA players from Kansas State, based on their NBA success.

FEBRUARY 2015 – Last month I had the privilege to attend a Clippers game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles when I realized I had not been to an NBA game since I was graduated from high school in 1985.

During the game, I conversed with friends about some of the great Kings players that played in Kansas City between 1972 and 1985. These giants raced up and down Municipal Auditorium and Kemper Arena during my childhood, but are slowly becoming forgotten heroes in the Midwest.
